How to Tell if a Fuel Injector is Bad: Symptoms and Fixes

Ticking or Clicking: Some injectors make a faint ticking sound when they operate normally. However, if the sound becomes louder, erratic, or changes pitch, it could indicate a mechanical failure within the injector solenoid.
Misfire Rattle: If you hear a rhythmic rattling or knocking that speeds up with the engine, it might be a severe misfire caused by a dead injector. This is dangerous to ignore because unburned fuel can wash oil off the cylinder walls, causing long-term damage.
Hissing: A hissing noise near the intake manifold might suggest a vacuum leak, but if combined with a rich fuel smell, it could mean a leaking injector seal or O-ring.
